Dr. Casey Schreiber has been a faculty member at Dillard University since 2014. Her approach to studying cities and city life considers how culture, politics, economics and social life influence communities and neighborhoods She was named a 2016 Pardee RAND Faculty Leader in Policy Research and a 2017 Periclean Faculty Leader in Civic Engagement.


Dr. Schreiber very much loves New Orleans and continuously finds inspiration from this remarkable city to use in her teaching, research and creative work. Her areas of research include sports in urban life, neighborhood recovery after disaster, and using policy to address urban problems. Her book, Saints in the Broken City: football, fandom and urban renewal in Post-Katrina New Orleans, combines urban studies and sports to tell the story of how Saints fans used their football team to craft narratives of renewal in post-Katrina New Orleans.
