Commencement 2017 - Parking

Commencement is upon us Bleu Devil Family! To ensure that we have a seamless ingress and egress for both Baccalaureate and Commencement we will ask everyone to adhere to the below parking guidelines.

Cabinet / Board of Trustees / VIP

All members of the President’s Cabinet, Board of Trustees, and special guests will park in the Cabinet parking lot and the Rosenwald/Chapel Horseshoe. Individuals that are not members of the aforementioned groups are prohibited from parking in the Rosenwald Horseshoe effective 7pm on Thursday, May 11, 2017 thru 7pm on Saturday, May 13, 2017.

 

Graduates / Faculty / Staff

All graduates and members of the faculty/staff will be required to park in the Gentilly Gardens and Camphor/Hartzell paved parking lots. They must enter through the Virgil (Gardens) Gate. The Virgil Gate will open at 6:15am on Saturday, May 13, 2017. Parents and other guests will not be allowed to park in this area and will be directed to General Parking.

 

Handicap Parking

Primary handicap parking will be in the DUICEF & Straight Hall parking lots. Non handicap vehicles will not be allowed to park in either of the two lots from 7pm on Thursday, May 11, 2017 thru 7pm on Saturday, May 13, 2017. Disabled individuals attempting to park in the DUICEF lot for Baccalaureate and Commencement will enter through the Virgil Gate. Disabled individuals attempting to park in the Straight Hall lot for Baccalaureate and Commencement will enter through the Cook Gate.

 

General Parking

Members of the general public will be allowed to park in the Cook, PSSB, Daughter’s of Charity, and Dent Hall parking lots. To park in Cook or Dent, individuals must enter through the Cook Gate beginning at 6:30am on Saturday, May 13, 2017. To park in the PSSB and Daughter’s of Charity parking lots, individuals must enter through the Warrington Gate beginning at 6:30am on Saturday, May 13, 2017. There will be overflow parking AT YOUR OWN RISK under I-610 which is bound by New Orleans, Humanity, Benefit and Allen Streets.

 

Shuttle Pick-up/Drop-off

The University shuttles will pick-up and drop-off from the I-610 overflow lots, the Cook lot, and from the rear side of Kearny Hall nearest the bookstore. The shuttles will all enter and exit via the Cook Gate and will turnaround in the Dent Hall parking lot.

 

Illegally Parked Vehicles

All vehicles parked illegally on campus will be towed at the owner’s expense. Parking in handicap spaces without a permit, in fire/emergency lanes, on the grass/sidewalk, in reserved, or no parking zones will result in the immediate tow of the vehicle. There will be no parking in the space closest to Ms. Michelle Matthew’s office on the DUICEF side of Kearny Hall from 7pm Thursday, May 11, 2017 thru 7pm Saturday, May 13, 2017.
