Commencement 2019 - Parking

Commencement is upon us Bleu Devil Family! To ensure that we have a seamless ingress and egress for both Baccalaureate and Commencement we will ask everyone to adhere to the below parking guidelines.

Cabinet / Board of Trustees / VIP

All members of the President's Cabinet, Board of Trustees, and Special guests will park in the Cabinet parking lot and the Rosenwald/Chapel Hourseshoe. Individuals that are not members of the aforementioned groups are prohibited from parking in the Rosenwald Horseshoe effective 7pm on Thursday, May 09, 2019 thru 7pm on Saturday, May 11, 2019. These members will have a WHITE PARKING PASSONLY WHITE PARKING PASSES WILL GRANT YOU ACCESS TO THIS AREA. ANY OTHERS WILL BE DIVERTED OR REMOVED. 

 

For Baccalaureate, members will park in the Rosenwald Horseshoe.

 

Graduates

All graduates will be required to park in the Gentilly Gardens and Camphor/Hartzell paved parking lot across from the library. They must enter through the Virgil (Gardens) Gate. The Virgil Gate will open at 6:00am on Saturday, May 11, 2019. Parents and other guests will not be allowed to park in this area and will be directed to General Parking. Faculty, staff and volunteers will have other designated parking areas. These members will have a YELLOW PARKING PASS. ONLY YELLOW PARKING PASSES WILL GRANT YOU ACCESS TO THIS AREA. ANY OTHERS WILL BE DIVERTED OR REMOVED. 

 

For Baccalaureate, members will park in the Gentilly Gardens parking lot.

 

Faculty / Staff / Event Staff

All faculty, staff and event staff will be required to park in the Tennis Court and Dent Hall parking lot. They must enter through the Cook Gate. The Cook Gate will open at 5:00am on Saturday, May 11, 2019. Parents and other guests will not be allowed to park in this area and will be directed to General Parking. These members will have a FACULTY-PURPLE PARKING PASS AND STAFF - RED PARKING PASS. ONLY PURPLE AND RED PARKING PASSES WILL GRANT YOU ACCESS TO THIS AREA. ANY OTHERS WILL BE DIVERTED OR REMOVED. 

 

For Baccalaureate, members will park in the Gentilly Gardens and Camphor parking lot. 

 

Media Parking

Credentialed members of the media will park in the DUICEF parking lot. They must enter through the Cook Gate. These members will have a PINK PARKING PASS. ONLY PINK PARKING PASSES WILL GRANT YOU ACCESS TO THIS AREA. ANY OTHERS WILL BE DIVERTED OR REMOVED. 

 

Police Parking

Credentialed members of the DUPD and outside Law Enforcement will park alongside of the Public Safty complex within a barricaded area. These members will have a BLUE PARKING PASS. ONLY BLUE PARKING PASSES WILL GRANT YOU ACCSS TO THIS AREA. ANY OTHERS WILL BE DIVERTED OR REMOVED. 

 

Golden Graduated Parking

Members of the Golden Graduates will be allowed to park in the PSSB parking lot. Members will be allowed to enter the parking area from the Warrington gate or the Cook Gate. Both gates will be open at 5:00am. These members will have a GREEN PARKING PASS. ONLY GREEN PARKING PASSES WILL GRANT YOU ACCESS TO THIS AREA. ANY OTHERS WILL BE DIVERTED OR REMOVED. 

Handicap Parking

Primary handicap parking for Commencement will be in the Williams & Straight Hall parking lots. Henson Hall horseshoe and the Roadway between St. Anthony Street and Warrington gate. Non-handicap vehicles will not be allowed to park in either of the lots and roadway from 7:00pm on Thursday, May09, 2019 thru 7:00pm on Saturday, May 11, 2019. Disabled individuals attempting to park in those areas will enter through the Cook Gate and the Warrington street gate. Disabled individuals attempting to park for Baccalaureate will park on the Chapel side of the Rosenwald horseshoe and DUICEF parking lot and will enter through the main gate. 

 

FOR GRADUATION: Handicap pick up points will be at the corner of St. Anthony and the PSB building, PSB Lot and the corner of Cook all in the Student Union lot. Drop off will be at Williams/Straight Hall location. 

General Parking

Members of the general public will be allowed to park in the Student Union, Gravel lot, Daughters of Charity, Gentilly BLVD and 6-10 underpass. To park in the Student Union, gravel and Daughters of Charity lots, individuals must enter through the cook Gate beginning at 6:30am on Saturday, May 11, 2019. To exit the parking lots, individuals must go through the Warrington street exit of Daughters of Charity. There will be overflow parking AT YOUR OWN RISK under I-610 which is bound by New Orleans, Humanity, Benefit and Allen Streets. parking on Gentilly Blvd will be allowed once the lots on campus are full. NO Parking Passes are required. 

 

FOR Baccalaureate, General parking will begin at the DUICEF curve and go into the DENT parking lot. Parking on Gentilly Blvd is prohibited and vehicles are subject to ticket and tow from the city of New Orleans.

Shuttle Pick-up/Drop-off

The University shuttles will pick-up and drop-off in the Cook lot, and from the rear side of Kearny Hall nearest the bookstore. The shuttles will all enter and exit via the Cook Gate and will turnaround in the Dent Hall parking lot.

 

Illegally Parked Vehicles

All vehicles parked illegally on campus will be towed at the owner’s expense. Parking in handicap spaces without a permit, in fire/emergency lanes, on the grass/sidewalk, in reserved, or no parking zones will result in the immediate tow of the vehicle. There will be no parking in the space closest to Ms. Michelle Matthew’s office on the DUICEF side of Kearny Hall from 7pm Thursday, May 9, 2019 thru 7pm Saturday, May 11, 2019.
