DILLARD UNIVERSITY COLLEGE OF BUSINESS RECEIVES 10-YEAR ACCREDITATION
NEW ORLEANS – Dillard University’s College of Business has successfully obtained accreditation
from the Accreditation Council of Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). The ACBSP was founded
in 1988 and is a global accrediting body for business schools. It is also the only organization that offers
accreditation to all collegiate business degrees.
Dillard’s College of Business was established in 1984 when the Division of Business was created from
the University’s Division of Social Sciences. The Division of Business eventually became the School of
Business, and now, the College of Business. This evolution is a testament to the fact that the faculty and
staff of the College of Business have diligently fulfilled the charge for educational excellence and student
“This accreditation allows us to begin the process of making #RelentlessExcellence more than a hashtag.
We now have a foundation upon which to build and a path to follow,” Dr. Alicia Cooper, the Associate
Professor of Marketing said in a statement. “The great thing about ACBSP accreditation is that it is
designed to help institutions engage in continuous improvement. This ensures that we won’t rest on our
laurels and will continue to fulfill our responsibility to our students and the community.”
According to the All Business Schools website, “national or regional business school accreditation
assures students that an institution of higher learning adheres to high-quality standards based on the latest
research and professional practice. An accredited institution must continue to demonstrate at regular
review cycles that it is developing and growing, not just maintaining existing standards. Accreditation by
a national or regional accrediting body creates a gateway for students to participate in federally funded
and state financial aid programs.”
Dillard University now joins Oakwood, Xavier, Claflin and Florida Agricultural and Mechanical
Universities as historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) who have accredited business
