The New Orleans Tricentennial Prosperity Index
Written by The Office of Communications and Marketing
Dr. Robert Collins and Zella Palmer of Dillard University will publish papers for The New Orleans Tricentennial Prosperity Index by The Data Center. Their essays are among approximately a dozen papers accepted for publication leading up to the release of the report on April 16, 2018. The essays will examine the demographics of New Orleans across its 300 year history as well as historical systemic inequities, with a lens to how these inequities are playing out for New Orleanians today.
For Collins, Professor of Urban Studies and Public Policy, this will be his third appearance in the report. This is Palmer’s, chair of the Dillard University Ray Charles Program in African American Material Culture, first time in the publication. The essays will be published as companion pieces to The Prosperity Index. The Data Center’s mission ensure that this contributed research is timely, relevant and accessible to a wide audience.
