The Passing of Civil Rights Activist Almena Lomax PDF Print E-mail

almena-lomaxThe Dillard University community joins the nation in mourning the loss of Mrs. Almena Lomax, mother of former Dillard University President Michael Lomax. A pioneering journalist and civil rights activist, Mrs. Lomax founded the Los Angeles Tribune, and covered stories such as the Montgomery bus boycott, and the search for activist and revolutionary Angela Davis.

We extend our sincerest, most heartfelt condolences to the Lomax family on the loss of Almena, an amazing matriarch and a true national treasure.

Funeral services were private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the United Negro College Fund.
