Dillard University invites all students to participate in the University Student Accident & Sickness Plan offered by the Educational & Institutional Insurance Administrators, Inc. (eiia). All full-time undergraduate students are automatically enrolled in the plan covering sickness as well as accidents for a full 12 months, with enrollment beginning in the fall semester each year.
The insurance plan is automatically charged to the student’s fee schedule, the student has 31 days to waiver the insurance plan. It is advised that all Louisiana Medicaid students and students covered under private insurance waive the insurance provided by EIIA. However, other students are encouraged to check with their insurance companies before signing the waiver to assure coverage of medical care in the state of Louisiana. Students with Medicaid benefits from other states should check with Louisiana Medicaid department at www.dhh.louisiana.gov/offices for continued benefits.
The Student Health and Wellness Center utilizes the student’s insurance plan for outside lab test, x-rays, medical referrals and other services not provided by the student center. It is advised that all students have some form of medical insurance for both non-emergencies and emergencies that could occur during enrollment.
