Students, Jerome Bailey and Johne’tra Trotter, 2012-2013 Mister and Miss Dillard, participated in the Leadership for Queens and King Konnection Conference held in Memphis, TN. Held annually in the summer, the leadership conference is designed to enhance and train young men and women to become outstanding campus kings and queens. It also exposes the Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) campus royalties to etiquette and business skills that prepare them for executing platforms and their reign. There are also many notable celebrity speakers, scheduled seminars, collegiate competitions, and a culminating gala during the conference.
This was Dillard University’s first time to be in attendance at this national conference which is being represented by over 40 HBCUs. “I am so excited to represent Dillard University at this conference as well as network with so many other HBCU campus queens,” says Johne’tra Trotter (Miss Dillard). Her sentiments are echoed by Jerome Bailey (Mister Dillard), “We have an extensive list of community service projects prepared for the new school year and it is great to expose Dillard University on a national level.”
Mister and Miss Dillard were accompanied by Mr. Jerald Bowman (Director of Student Engagement and Leadership Development) and are supported by Dr. Toya Barnes-Teamer, Vice President for Student Success and Assistant Vice President for Enrollment, Management, Dr. Alecia Cyprian.
