Dillard University’s Student Support Services Emerging Scholars program is a free, five-week pre-collegiate summer enrichment program. The program is designed to assist students with the transition from high school to college while strengthening basic academic skills for college credit. As a participant, students enroll in two (2) college core courses which consist of Math, English and/or Reading. Students also attend supplemental instruction in academic skills, writing, mathematics, and science. Student are also exposed to various cultural enrichment activities and have access to academic, personal, career, and graduate school counseling as well as financial aid information. The Emerging Scholars summer program has existed since 1981.
Emerging Scholars program offers:
- an intensive, comprehensive summer enrichment program for incoming freshmen needing academic support services
- academic support services in reading, writing, study skills mathematics, and college orientation
- exposure to cultural enrichment activities ninteractive sessions with staff nmentoring by academic advisors
