New Construction

Dillard University has continued its aggressive approach to rebuilding and transforming its campus with the construction of two new buildings: the Professional Schools and Sciences Building, and the Student Union and Recreation, Health and Wellness Center.

The recently completed Professional Schools and Sciences Building, a 130,000 square foot facility (pictured above), houses academic and research programs for the Schools of Business, Nursing, and Public Health, and the Department of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). The building's common entrance, the atrium, serves as a new focal point for community and student social interaction.

The soon-to-be completed Student Union and Recreation, Health and Wellness Center will span 55,000 square feet and include a conference center, banquet room, offices, and a variety of entertainment venues, including a movie theater, bowling alley, and fitness center. In addition, the building will house a full-service health clinic for both Dillard students, faculty and staff, and the greater Gentilly community, where Dillard is located. The health center will be the first facility of its kind in Gentilly since Hurricane Katrina.

Both new buildings are LEED®* registered (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), furthering the university’s commitment to environmental sustainability as it rebuilds and transforms.
