A Message from the Vice President for Student Success
The Division of Student Success provides support for all students to enable them to successfully meet their personal, academic and professional objectives through their college experience. Our mission is to improve the quality of student life and learning.
The division houses ten administrative units, each providing the necessary services required to ensure that student success is attainable. The units include Enrollment Management, Financial Aid and Scholarships, Student Support Services, Upward Bound, Educational Talent Search, Career and Professional Development, Records and Registration, Center for Student Performance, University Chapel, and Vision Quest.
Our core value is to recruit and retain students with strong academic, personal, and social skills and to support those students by providing financial services, academic and career assistance. By our definition, a “successful student” is one who graduates from Dillard University fully equipped to be a strong citizen and future leader in graduate school or the world of work.
At Dillard University, student success is everyone's business.

The Value of a Dillard Education
As a private institution, we know that prospective students and their
families must pay close attention to the investment they make in higher
education. As one of the nation’s historically black colleges and
universities (HBCU), we are proud of the distinctive avenue of
opportunity that Dillard University offers to our students.
Let the words of our own student and faculty help you see the value that Dillard offers to each of its students.
The Opportunity to...
Do research with faculty as undergraduate students
“We
have what we call a systemic mentoring program to align our faculty
with the students to do research. Through the academic year, every
faculty member has one or two students to do research with them.
Students travel to present their research and receive stipends for
their work.”
Abdalla Darwish
Professor of Physics
Chair, Physics and Pre-Engineering Department
Experience diversity in the context of an HBCU
“Our
students comment that when they came they assumed Dillard wouldn’t be
diverse, but then they see that the student body is diverse in terms of
where they come from and what they experienced there.”
Gail Bowman
Dillard University Chaplain
Assistant Professor of Religion
Project Director for Vision Quest
Hit the Ground Running
“I
already have an offer from an investment banking firm here in New
Orleans. I’ll probably be with them for close to a year or two and then
I plan to go onto pursue an MBA and then a doctorate.”
Kael Saloy
Economics and Finance Major
Class of 2008
Join a community that cares deeply about your success
“At
Dillard, you’re going to graduate because that’s what we care about.
It’s not just me. It’s the instructors. It’s our Office of Enrollment
Management. It’s President Hughes. Dillard is a family of people who
care about where each student is going.”
Kiki Baker Barnes
Dillard Athletic Director and the Head Coach-Women’s Basketball
“It’s
a very one-on-on based experience. You get to know your faculty. You
get to know your mentors, your advisors, your administrators. You see
them in the cafeteria. They eat with you, they talk with you outside of
class, outside of the administrative building and that sort of personal
connection makes it easier for you… especially for an international
student.”
Timothy James Shankar Ramnerine
Biology Major
Class of 2009
