    (New Orleans) — The Office of Academic Affairs invites the Dillard University community to participate in the annual Honors Convocation set for Sunday, February 15, 2009 at 4:00 pm in Lawless Assembly Hall, 2601 Gentilly Blvd in New Orleans.

    Honors Convocation is designed to acknowledge all currently enrolled full-time students who earned a 3.2 and above term GPA during the spring and/or fall 2007 semesters. This event provides an opportunity for students to celebrate their academic achievements with their families and friends.


    Dr. Andre Perry, Ph.D. will deliver the address. Dr. Perry is Associate Dean of the University of New Orleans College of Education and Human Development and Chief Executive Officer of the Capital One-University of New Orleans Charter School Network. As chief executive of UNO’s charter school network, Dr. Perry is responsible for leading a pre-kindergarten through high school educational network and fulfilling its mission of providing access and placement in community colleges and the University of New Orleans. He also serves as an advocate for quality public education, leading UNO’s mission to rebuild its surrounding neighborhoods. Dr. Perry is charged with advancing the working partnership between UNO’s faculty and charter school teachers, as well as developing community partnerships with businesses, non-profit organizations, universities, schools and neighborhood organizations.
