Dillard University’s Youth Leadership Institute has been in existence since June 2009 and is an intense two-week summer program comprised of academic enrichment, environmental awareness, economic development, health and wellness, social entrepreneurship, and community and civic engagement; all encompassing the importance of Leadership and the Freedom Movement. Students in grades 8th-9th meet each year in the month of June and students in grades 10th-12th meet in the month of July. The purpose of the Student Government Association is threefold: (1) to act as a clearinghouse for student opinions; (2) to provide a bridge between students, faculty, and administration; and (3) to enable students to engage in a democratic process of
self-governance.
