    Dillard Nominated for Six HBCU Awards PDF Print E-mail

    Dillard University has been nominated for six HBCU Awards from The Center for HBCU Media Advocacy. Nominations are based on achievement as well as local and national media coverage. Winners will be announced during a ceremony at Jackson State University on June 28, 2013.

    Speaking of awards, Dillard's Nick Harris, Director of the Office of Community Relations, has received the New Orleans Neighborhood Development Foundation’s 2013 Leadership Award. The award honors an individual or organization who has demonstrated outstanding leadership in the development and growth of local neighborhoods.

    Dillard says goodbye to a former faculty member and First Lady, Lillian Butler. The wife of former President Dr. Broadus-Nathaniel Butler, Lillian was a strong advocate of higher education and the arts and supported many students on their journeys through higher education.

    President Kimbrough Speaks at Student Affairs Research Symposium PDF Print E-mail

    Dillard President Dr. Walter Kimbrough was a keynote speaker at the 10th Annual Division of Student Affairs research symposium, held at the University of Michigan. President Kimbrough shared the success of the Black Male Initiative Program he helped create at Philander Smith. Under the program, students gained greater social skills and connected with mentors.

    Dillard Alumnus Part of Summer Poetry Reading Series PDF Print E-mail

    Dillard alumnus Jericho Brown '98, will be part of the Summer Poetry Reading Series at the University of Georgia. Held from June 6 -13, the event features a week of poetry reading and discussion of the poetry craft. Brown's first collection of poetry, “Please,” won the 2009 American Book Award. Brown is the recipient of the 2009-10 Bunting Fellowship from the Radcliffe Institute at Harvard University and a Whiting Writer’s Award.

    Dillard President Dr. Walter Kimbrough looks back on his first year at the university and shares some insights on the job done, and the future for Dillard.

    "The continuing revival, Kimbrough said, is a multifaceted process that will involve increasing efficiency; determining how big Dillard should be; touting the more-celebrated disciplines, such as nursing and physics; and enhancing the reputation of closeness and mutual support for which historically black colleges like Dillard have been renowned."
