Dillard University hosted the Fourth Annual Louisiana Women's Conference, whiched honored healthcare professional Deborah Smith, PhD. Smith received the 2012 Most Powerful and Influential Women Award as a result of her work as a woman leader and as a change agent for healthcare. The award was presented by Donna Brazile, Vice Chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee, and Dennis Kennedy, Founder & CEO of the National Diversity Council.

Poverty Manifesto Lecture Series Comes to Dillard |

Co-authors and radio co-hosts Tavis Smiley and Cornel West bring their latest venture, a lecture series on poverty and economic injustices in America, to Dillard University on Jan. 21. Entitled "The Poverty Manifesto Lecture Series", the event will take place on Martin Luther King Jr. Day at Dillard, in Lawless Chapel.

Heritage School of Music Auditions Held at Dillard |

The Heritage School of Music through the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation, provides instruction to students throughout the greater New Orleans area from the age of 11 to 17; both beginning and advanced learning levels. Auditions for the Spring 2012 session will be held on Saturday, January 12, from 10:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. at Dillard University - Cook Fine Arts Center.

Dillard Grant to Expand Schoolyard Gardens |

The greenhouse on the Dillard University campus is being put to good use. A new $20,000 grant awarded by the Greater New Orleans Foundation will help Dillard biology students and faculty seed and grow healthy food for neighboring schools and the Gentilly community. The grant will help expand the "From Seed to Table" initiative that began in 2012.
