Beginning on Wednesday, July 11, 2012, the Dillard University Women in Science Learning Community (WSLC) will attend the American Association of Colleges and Universities (AACU) conference at the University of Vermont. The group, led by Dr. Ruby Broadway, will share their ideas and findings on various components of learning and science in highter education including a report entitled "Preparing Critical Faculty for the Future".

The mission of Dillard University WSLC is to encourage undergraduate women to explore how they might make their particular contributions and experience the greatest possible satisfaction in STEM fields. Ultimately, the program is to help retain women in the field of and increase the number of women STEM concentrators at Dillard. WSLC will provide a valuable opportunity for undergraduate women to take advantage of the wisdom that is provided by the mentor. The Mentor Program also provides high school young ladies the occasion to share their thoughts about their career decisions and experiences. is to create and maintain an environment that fosters the growth and development of women students in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics community at Dillard University. WSLC encourages undergraduate women to explore how they might make their particular contributions and experience the greatest possible satisfaction in STEM fields. The WSLC also hosts various events throughout the year on the Dillard University campus including Shadow Day, which mimics a realistic day of college life. Tenth- twelfth grade girls from McDonogh 35 College Preparatory School in New Orleans, Louisiana will pair up with Dillard University’s female science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) professors for Shadow Day. It also allow the mentee the opportunity to collaborate and network with both college students and professors." Registration is now open for this event.
