    Dillard alumnus Evan Cleaver has got some serious moves. The former basketball player and theater major recently landed a part in the new Stephanie Meyer film, "The Host" which opens on Friday, March 29, 2013. Evan was a star point guard at Center High School and earned a scholarship to Dillard University in New Orleans. He became the first student on a basketball scholarship to graduate with a degree in acting.

    Dillard alumna Cynthia Butler-McIntyre has been honored for her public service at the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority's 81 Regional Conference on March 22, 2013. Butler-ButlerMcIntyre smMcIntyre graduated from Dillard University in 1976 with a B.A. in early childhood education. She is the director of human resources in the Jefferson Parish Public School System in Louisiana and the national president of Delta Sigma Theta, a public service organization.

    Dillard to Participate in National Conference on Race Relations PDF Print E-mail

    Dillard University president Dr. Walter Kimbrough will be part of a panel of New Orleans area university presidents discussing their responses to Hurricane Katrina during the National Conference on Race and Ethnicity in American Higher Education, taking place in New Orleans. Running from May 28 to June 1, 2013, the conference will have speakers from across the country. Tulane professor and MSNBC host Melissa Harris Perry will be one of several keynote speakers.

    Dillard President Walter M. Kimbrough joined other distinguished guests and host Marc Lamont Hill on HuffPo Live on March 19, 2013 to discuss the current status of PLUS loan changes and student loans for college students, particularly those at HBCUs. 

    President Kimbrough has spoken to HBCU Digest on several topics related to college life and student concerns in the past year.

    UNCF Raises Funds for Dillard at Annual Bank Ball PDF Print E-mail

    On Friday, March 22, 2013 the UNCF held it's annual UNCF/Liberty Bank Ball at Harrah's Casino, to raise money for scholarships for Dillard University students. Former Dillard president Dr. Michael L. Lomax was on hand to help raise awareness of the need for funding UNCF.

    “The UNCF/Liberty Bank Ball in the City is a chance for everybody who values students and education to have a great time for a great cause,” said Michael L. Lomax, Ph.D., president and CEO, UNCF.
