Heritage School of Music Auditions Held at Dillard |

The Heritage School of Music through the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation, provides instruction to students throughout the greater New Orleans area from the age of 11 to 17; both beginning and advanced learning levels. Auditions for the Spring 2012 session will be held on Saturday, January 12, from 10:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. at Dillard University - Cook Fine Arts Center.

Dillard Grant to Expand Schoolyard Gardens |

The greenhouse on the Dillard University campus is being put to good use. A new $20,000 grant awarded by the Greater New Orleans Foundation will help Dillard biology students and faculty seed and grow healthy food for neighboring schools and the Gentilly community. The grant will help expand the "From Seed to Table" initiative that began in 2012.

Dillard Recognized for Giving Back to Community |

Dillard University was recognized by HuffingtonPost media for being one of several HBCUs giving back to the community during the holidays. Toy drives by students and staff helped local children have a happier Christmas in New Orleans. Recipients included Ronald McDonald House and Joseph Craig Elementary School.

Dillard President Dr. Walter Kimbrough is a recent guest columnist with the Montgomery Advertiser and shares his thoughts on the untimely ousting of Alabama State University president, Dr. Joseph Silver. A respected colleague, Dr. Silver was removed from ASU after two short months in office. Dr. Kimbrough offers suggestions on how ASU can move forward to regain its reputation.

Ariel Mitchell Welcomed on Globetrotters Team |

Dillard University alumna Ariel Mitchell is a welcomed addition to the Harlem Globetrotters team. In an article in a Pennsylvania publication, Mitchell is featured and showered with accolades from her colleagues. Beyond playing, Mitchell will be active in her support for important causes affecting children. Mitchell is part of an elite group of women who have played for the famous basketball team.
