    Bridget Sisney

    2013 Dillard University graduate Bridget Sisney has just been announced as a McCord Scholar, thanks to the generosity of the United Methodist Black College Fund. The Lina McCord scholars, selected from the 11 historically black United Methodist colleges and universities, are chosen by their chaplains and presidents. The student ambassadors are named for the fund’s longtime executive director, the late Lina H. McCord.

    Dillard adjunct professor Erika McConduit has been named to The Advocate newspaper's New Orleans advisory board. The New Orleans-area community leaders will sit on a board to advise The Advocate’s owners and management on ways to improve the newspaper and tailor it to the tastes of New Orleanians.

    Former Dillard president Dr. Marvalene Hughes discussed the devastation and recovery process of the institution post Katrina, at the 26th annual National Conference on Race and Ethnicity in Higher Education. She was joined by presidents of Xavier, Tulane, Loyola, Southern and Howard Universities.


    Newly Funded Program Targets Single Parent Students PDF Print E-mail

    The nationally renowned Keys to Degrees residential program for single parents has been awarded a $700,000 grant for replication at Dillard University in New Orleans. With funding from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, the program will provide educational opportunities for enrolled student parents and their children together at Dillard University beginning in fall 2013.

    “Our students have a need for a program like this, and we are absolutely excited to work with Endicott College to serve the needs of our single parents on campus,” said Dr. Kevin Bastian, Assistant Vice President for Student Success and Support Services, Dillard University.
