| Job Description |
Dillard University, classified by the Carnegie Foundation as a balanced arts and sciences/professions institution, invites applications and nominations for the position of Licensed Professional Counselor for Student Support Services (a TRiO program in the Division of Student Success). The University is located in the culturally-rich and diverse city of New Orleans, Louisiana.
Position Overview and Essential Functions The Licensed Professional Counselor for Student Support Services is responsible for identifying a pool of students eligible for Student Support Services.
Recommend students for selection and provide personal counseling in individual and/or group settings.
Present workshops/seminars on academic success strategies, personal development issues, graduate school information, career information, and other relevant topics.
Provide feedback to laboratory instructors and faculty to aid them in meeting the student’s academic and personal needs.
Refer students to proper agencies when their problems extend beyond the realm of Student Support Services.
Assist in data collection and preparation of performance reports for the U.S. Department of Education.
Maintain ongoing reports of all counseling activities. Assist in preparation of all grant applications. |

| Qualifications |
A minimum of a master’s degree, preferably in Counselor Education, Guidance and Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or related area. Counselors must also be licensed. Qualified counselors must possess knowledge and skills of personal, academic, and career counseling. The successful candidate will have experience in working with students from a disadvantaged background. Additional qualifications would include prior experience working with a TRiO program(s), and having comprehensive knowledge of academic needs of low-income, first-generation, and/or disabled students. |
