Position Overview
Working closely with the Vice President of Institutional Advancement, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Deans and Development staff, this individual is responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction to the development efforts of university fundraising priorities.
He/she will work with unit heads and the development officers to develop annual fundraising and campaign plans and goals, implement strategies for each management unit, monitor progress, and provide mentoring opportunities and provide periodic annual reports and reviews.
Reporting Relationships – This position reports to the Vice President for Institutional Advancement, who reports to the Office of the President.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
• Establishes short and long range goals for private funding sources and enlists support from members of institution staff and volunteer organizations
• Identifies and researches private corporations to identify potential sources of funding for research, community service, or other projects
• Directs grant programs for corporations, and corporate foundation funding
• Directs major gifts program for funding from individuals
• Directs Annual Fund programs and initiatives
• Maintains a portfolio of high-end major gifts prospects and donors
• Directs the writing, editing, and proofreading of proposals and reports to funders
• Staffs and organizes activities of governing body and volunteers relating to fund raising activities
• Organizes direct mail campaign to reach potential contributors
• Plans and coordinates benefit events such as banquets
• Organizes solicitation drives for pledges of ongoing support from individuals, corporations, and foundations
• Informs potential contributors of special needs of institution, and encourages individuals, corporations, and foundations to establish or contribute to special funds through endowments, trusts, donations of gifts-in-kind, or bequests
• Directs the Advancement Services responsibilities to ensure accurate and timely gift processing, acknowledgement and reporting |
