Dillard University, classified by the Carnegie Commission on Higher Education as a balanced arts and sciences/professions institution, invites applications for the position of Director of Recruitment, Admissions and Programming. The University is located in the culturally rich and diverse city of New Orleans, Louisiana.
Summary: Directs and coordinates the recruitment and admissions program for Dillard University to enroll an entering class of students of the targeted size, diversity and quality.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Oversee the daily functions of the Office of Recruitment, Admissions and Programming, including training, supervising, evaluating, and developing staff on the delivery of student-centered customer service. • Work with the Vice President for Enrollment Management to achieve the goals for recruiting and admitting sufficient numbers of academically talented students who will benefit from a Dillard University educational experience and persist to graduation. • Responsible for overseeing the management and credibility of the admission module in Jenzabar EX. • Manage the MyDU portal for all admissions portlet information on the tab as well as the CRM Admission Officer portlet. • Provide oversight for all Recruitment, Admissions and Programming events such as Open House, Counselor Breakfast, Bleu Devil Classic, etc. • Work with the Vice President for Enrollment Management to develop long range organizational and promotional/marketing plans (print, electronic, and other mediums) for programs and initiatives which support and promote the academic missions of the institution related to admission. • Coordinate in conjunction with the Vice President for Enrollment Management, the operations of new student orientation programs including, but not limited to, assisting in the handling of all logistical concerns and program planning aspects. • Coordinate internal and external (i.e., university office, DUPAAN, DUFAAN etc.) partnership involvement in sponsored recruitment activities both on and off campus and provide oversight for all activities and protocol for volunteer cohorts. • Review and make recommendations in the allocation of resources based upon the effectiveness of Enrollment Management activities. • Network with students, faculty, staff, alumni, and education-related, non-profit and government agencies, to recruit qualified students to Dillard University. • Maintain and regularly update the Enrollment Recovery Plan. • Develop yearly recruitment calendar and follow-up communications plan for all prospective student cohorts (first-time freshman, transfers, readmits). • Develop and maintain the operations manual for recruitment and admissions processes as well as appropriate forms. • Work with the Vice President of Enrollment Management to design and provide statistical and analytical tracking systems and reports to monitor and assess the effectiveness of admissions goals as well as maintain and provide an analysis of data and trends, including class projections. • Oversee the evaluation, preparation, and presentation of applicant folders to the Admissions Review Committee. • Direct program of admissions counseling and reviews exceptional admissions cases. • Ensure that admissions applications are processed in a timely manner and ensure that correspondence is sent to applicants with incomplete files to inform them of missing documents. • Assist in evaluating courses offered by other schools to determine their equivalency to courses offered on campus. • Serve as the key contact for all inquiries of international admissions processes within the United States and from abroad. • Determine eligibility of admission exceptions, international applications and admission of students who have not yet graduated from high school. • Provide updated information on international admissions process and documentation to prospective undergraduate students, parents, and sponsors. • Coordinate and continuously improve procedures for international transcript evaluation and communication plan for prospective students. • Ensure that processes and communications are consistent with federal guidelines and the University’s admissions policies for international students.
Additional Responsibilities: • Oversee the design, preparation and distribution of statistical admissions reports to the Vice President of Enrollment Management and designated university officials. • Work with the Vice President of Enrollment Management to develop and foster a spirit of cooperation among all staff members to accomplish common goals. • Plan and facilitate in-house professional development programs. • Exhibiting a positive influence on staff by encouraging creativity, individuality, and responsibility. • Maintain ongoing relationship with the Office of Records and Registration, Academic Affairs, Facilities, and Marketing and Communications. • Assist with all on campus and off campus programs that impact the proposed yield of enrolled students. These activities include but are not limited to Open House, Orientation, Summer Send Offs, etc. • Maintain liaison with nationally recognized professional organizations in the field of Enrollment Management. • Responsible for promoting and developing the use of new and emerging technologies in the admission process. • Assume other duties and responsibilities deemed necessary by the Vice President of Enrollment Management.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervises the coordinator of campus tours/special events, sr. admission counselor, and sr. admission processor. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organization policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. |

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree required from a regional accredited college or university in relevant field. Master’s preferred. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in the college recruitment and admissions field; planning, implementing and evaluating of university recruitment and processing programs; extensive knowledge and experience with computer based information systems.
Personal Qualities and Skills:
• Initiative, imagination and organizational qualities to assist in the development of programs and promote the university to various publics (i.e., prospective students and parents, secondary school administrators and teachers, etc.) so as to matriculate a sufficient number of qualified new students each year.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing to individuals and large groups of prospective students and their parents, secondary school personnel, alumni, current students and their parents, as well as administrators and faculty.
• Willingness to acquire an understanding of the Dillard commitment to excellence in education, diversity of the student body, social service, and the liberal arts and sciences traditions. The goals and priorities of a value-centered education must be reflected in any recruitment program and presentation.
• Ability to develop congenial and productive working relationships with Dillard administrators, faculty, staff and students.
• Willingness to work irregular hours and weekends, and travel during the fall and spring semesters.
Additional Desirable Qualifications: Experience in the use of personal computers in the admissions and processing areas including work processing, spreadsheet and database management.
