Dillard University, classified by the Carnegie Commission on Higher Education as a balanced arts and sciences/professions institution, located in the culturally rich and diverse city of New Orleans, Louisiana, invites qualified applicants to apply for the position of Assistant Professor of Music.
This position is a tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor of Music, which requires teaching, performance and service. The appointment is effective August 14, 2013. This position reports to the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences.
Responsibilities: Accompany vocal and instrumental music majors for music juries, performance classes, applied studio lessons (if requested by studio instructor) junior and senior recitals and applied music auditions.
Accompany Concert Choir for daily rehearsals (if requested by Director) and performances. Accompany Concert Choir on Annual Spring Tour and special performances on and off campus including weekend performances when necessary. Render instrumental music for all university programs.
Music Instruction: Instruct undergraduate students in piano courses as well as teaching other courses potentially needed each semester according to the needs of the music department. Teach the required repertoire to music majors for studio lessons.
Additional Duties: Perform as solo pianist of the Dillard University Music Department when desired. Accompany music faculty members in solo performances as well as participating in professional musical venues outside the university.
The recruiting of qualified undergraduate music students is an essential part of this position. Applicant must be willing and available to address responsibilities on a regular basis, advise students and participate in auditions. Applicants must be available to serve on committees and perform other duties as required, to meet the needs of the music department, School of Humanities, and Dillard University. |
