Dillard University, classified by the Carnegie Commission on Higher Education as a balanced arts and sciences/professions institution, invites applications for the position of Dean of the College of Health Sciences. The University is located in the culturally rich and diverse city of New Orleans, Louisiana.


Job Description: 


Direct the activities of the College of Health Sciences; fundraise for the College; develop and cultivate external relationships with various stakeholder groups.


Duties and Responsibilities: 


Responsible for the administration and promotion of all affairs pertaining to the academic well-being and morale of the College of Health Sciences.  This responsibility involves activities such as: assisting School chairs with maintaining compliance with accreditation standards; assisting with faculty recruitment, evaluation and professional growth; make recommendations to the Vice President for Academic Affairs regarding appointment, promotion, tenure and other personnel within the College; initiating and coordinating curriculum evaluation, revision and improvement; monitoring and operating within the College budget; supervising teaching loads, course offerings, faculty assignments and office hours; assisting with student recruitment and retention; scheduling and chairing regular meetings of the College faculty; submitting annual reports to the Vice President for Academic Affairs;  representing the College and University by participating in community and professional meetings; teaching six credit hours per academic year.  This is a 12-month tenure track position.

Qualifications Earned doctorate degree in an area represented in the College of Health Sciences (Nursing or Public Health); three years prior experience leading a department or school; substantial experience in undergraduate education and curriculum development; a record of developing partnerships and collaborations; a record of funded grants; experience in undergraduate education and curriculum development.
