| Job Description |
Dillard University, classified by the Carnegie Commission on Higher Education as a balanced arts and sciences/professions institution, invites applications for the position of Coordinator of Student Engagement. The University is located in the culturally rich and diverse city of New Orleans, Louisiana.
SUMMARY
The Coordinator of Student Engagement will promote and engage students in a lively, active, and supportive campus community environment which is conducive to academic achievement and student growth. Ensure that all students enjoy a living environment that is physically and emotionally safe, secure, and supportive of the educational process, and is designed to hold individuals and groups responsible for their behavior. Provide a living environment that is committed to enhancing the university experience by providing, academic, educational, cultural, recreational, and interpersonal programs within the campus community. Represent student issues and concerns to the campus at large with the intention of enhancing student support and the quality of campus life at the university. The position requires sound judgment to coordinate training for organization leaders, program development for students, and various activities and events for the calendar year, and to establish priorities and guidelines for program development.
The Coordinator of Student Engagement directs programs and formulates policies governing student activities and organizations and is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive leadership and student development programs for all student organizations. This includes coordinating support, and serving as a liaison for all student organizations and their advisors in connecting to campus resources. It is expected that he/she be a strong partner with various campus stakeholders including students, faculty, staff, and parents and collaborator with colleagues within the Division of Student Success and Academic Affairs. The Coordinator of Student Engagement will provide a structured and engaged environment that enhances student learning and development through quality programming, policy enforcement, and high community standards.
The Coordinator of Student Engagement is a full-time, 12-month professional position. Specifically, the Coordinator of Student Engagement will coordinate student leader training, plan a calendar of robust and compelling activities for the academic year, advise and assist all campus organizations in activity planning and organizational procedures in accordance with University policies, assist with student discipline, liaison with the Center for.First Year Studies, develop and implement student engagement assessment, and other departmental and university-wide responsibilities.
In addition, the Coordinator of Student Engagement is expected to spend evening and weekend time with students, participate in on call duty rotation, and support the academic mission of Dillard University.

| Qualifications |
The successful candidate will possess an understanding of student development theory and philosophy; with ability to administer a comprehensive set of rules and regulations, and the ability to explain, interpret and apply rules and policies in a rational, objective, and consistent manner; proven quality program planning, organizational, administrative, supervisory, and budget management skills. This position
requires experience and/or knowledge of NPHC, SGA, and other campus organizations and current topics in student life in higher education. Additionally, the candidate will have experience in program and event planning and advising of student organizations. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, writing, and computer skills required. Have knowledge of trends in higher education and have strong managerial and supervisory skills. Demonstrated ability to foster collaborative work environments and manage multiple tasks.
Bachelors degree required, Masters degree preferred. Extensive experience in program management, commitment to student development, strong communication skills, and a demonstrated capacity to work with a diverse student population are preferred. Energy, commitment, flexibility, and enthusiasm are highly desired. The successful candidate should have a proven record of successful student leadership
development, student organization oversight, and program management, with a solid foundation in student development theory and student learning theory and their application to professional practice in student affairs. Must have demonstrated cultural competence including proven effectiveness in serving the needs of
a diverse undergraduate student population. Previous experience with risk management, Title IX, and student conduct preferred
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Employee must maintain confidentiality in all work performed. Must be flexible in work schedule. Must be willing to work evening or weekends for special events, crisis response, and/or opening and closing of hall. Must be willing to participate on an on-call duty rotation cycle during breaks and university closures. Must pass a background check performed by Human Resources.
