Job Description

Dillard University, classified by the Carnegie Commission on Higher Education as a balanced arts and sciences/professions institution, located in the culturally rich and diverse city of New Orleans, Louisiana, invites qualified applicants to apply for the following adjunct positions for the Fall 2014 semester.


Adjunct in Chemistry.  A Master’s or Doctorate degree in Chemistry is required. Applicants should demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence, effective use of instructional technology, and capacity to integrate communicative teaching approaches in the classroom. Experience teaching beginning and senior level chemistry courses is expected. The successful candidate will teach Physical Chemistry and General Chemistry.


Adjunct in English Composition.  A Master’s degree in English or Rhetoric and Composition or a Master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in English. Applicants should demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence, effective use of instructional technology, and capacity to integrate communicative teaching approaches in the classroom. Experience teaching English composition is expected. The successful candidate will teach English composition courses.


Adjunct in Film.  A Master’s of Fine Arts degree in Film required. Applicants should demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence, effective use of instructional technology, and capacity to integrate communicative teaching approaches in the classroom. Experience teaching beginning and intermediate courses in Film Studies and Film Production is expected. The successful candidate will teach Introduction to Film courses.


Adjunct in Geography.  A Master’s degree in the area or a Master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in the area is required. Applicants should demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence, effective use of instructional technology, and capacity to integrate communicative teaching approaches in the classroom. Experience teaching Geography is expected. The successful candidate will teach Introduction to Geography course.


Adjunct in Mathematics.  A Master’s or Doctorate degree in Mathematics is required. Applicants should demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence, effective use of instructional technology, and capacity to integrate communicative teaching approaches in the classroom. Experience teaching beginning and intermediate courses in Mathematics, is expected. The successful candidate will teach College Math and Intermediate Algebra, College Algebra, and Pre-Calculus.


Adjunct in Music.  A Master’s of Fine Arts degree in music is required. Applicants should demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence, effective use of instructional technology, and capacity to integrate communicative teaching approaches in the classroom. Experience teaching beginning and intermediate courses in music, voice, and the music industry / production is expected.


Adjunct in Physics.  A Master’s or Doctorate degree in Physics is required. Applicants should demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence, effective use of instructional technology, and capacity to integrate communicative teaching approaches in the classroom. Experience teaching beginning and intermediate courses in Physics is expected. The successful candidate will teach laboratory courses in Elementary College Physics, General Physics, and Electronics.


Adjunct in Reading.  A Master’s degree in the area of reading is required. Applicants should demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence, effective use of instructional technology, and capacity to integrate communicative teaching approaches in the classroom.  Experience teaching beginning courses in reading is expected.


Adjunct in Speech and Theatre.  A Master’s degree in the area or a Master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in the area and technical experience are required. Applicants should demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence, effective use of instructional technology, and capacity to integrate communicative teaching approaches in the classroom. Experience teaching beginning and intermediate courses in Speech and Theatre is expected. The successful candidate will teach Speech and Theatre courses at the basic and intermediate levels.
