Dillard Chair to Host First Holiday Seder at an HBCU Print

culinary-historian-jessica-b-harris.492.325.cJessica B. Harris holds the Ray Charles Chair in African American Material Culture at Dillard University. She will be part of the first official Seder at an HBCU.

A culinary historian and author,  Harris will give a free public lecture at 6 p.m. in the Bennie G. Thompson Academic and Civil Rights Research Center at Tougaloo, relating African-American food traditions to the Jewish Passover Seder tradition. Harris, a noted expert on African-American food history, is the author of 11 cookbooks documenting foods and foodways of the African Diaspora.
