At Dillard, students can select from 18 majors in three colleges. We offer bachelor of science and bachelor of arts degrees, with majors that range from international business, mass communications and public health, to theatre, history and physics. Our bachelor of science in nursing degree, established in 1942, is the oldest accredited nursing program in Louisiana. We value the close working relationship among faculty and students that characterizes the best liberal arts colleges. Our student-faculty ratio is 11 to one. It is an important part of the culture of Dillard that our faculty – many of whom are recognized nationally as outstanding in their fields – is available to teach students both inside and outside the classroom. Dillard students are encouraged to round out their studies by engaging in an undergraduate research project with a faculty mentor. Students in any discipline may participate in the university's undergraduate research programs. A Message from the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs The Office of the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs is responsible for providing and sustaining an intellectually rigorous community of scholars and learners. Our intent is to offer competitive academic programs, taught by excellent faculty and administered by dedicated professionals in an environment that offers opportunities for discipline-related research, service learning/civic engagement, and self-exploration. Our programs are guided by an understanding of the intellectual skills and competencies students will need to compete in a global society, underscored by the rich heritage and legacy that have guided Dillard University for more than a century.
