Michael Jones - Advantage Dillard! Co-Chair Print
Dear Friends,
Just as Dillard helped me, I feel an obligation to help Dillard help others. For that reason, shortly after Hurricane Katrina, my wife Shaun and I gave Dillard $100,000 to start an endowed scholarship fund. Last year, we added $50,000 to the fund. We intend to keep adding to the fund, to allow Dillard to offer scholarships to students with real financial needs and a real commitment to helping others.

Dillard was founded as a school to educate newly freed slaves, with the hope that armed with this education, they would go on to help raise the South and the nation closer to America’s founding ideals. The need for schools like Dillard to continue providing educational opportunities is as great as it has ever been.

My father was a construction worker with a third-grade education. He liked to point out the bridges that he helped build. I see education as a bridge out of poverty, a bridge to success. One day, I hope to be able to point to successful Dillard graduates and show my three children the bridges that I helped to build⎯bridges that, I hope and trust, will span many generations. Consider being a bridge builder. Please share the Dillard Advantage with today’s students and future generations of students by supporting the university that gave you, me and thousands of others the opportunity to make a positive contribution to our communities and our nation.

Thank you.
