Dillard University is known for its beautiful oak trees, which form the Avenue of the Oaks. The care and upkeep of the trees is a significant part of the grounds maintenance and a job that is handled with care and pride.

On Thursday, May 24, 2012 work began on taking down two sick oak trees on the Avenue. As much as the Dillard community is sad to see them go, these trees have become a risk to staff, faculty, students and guests. New oak trees will be planted to replace those that have been removed.
