The Performance is part of Project 1Voice’s nation-wide readings

(New Orleans) – As part of the American Theatre Project of New Orleans, Dillard University, Project 1Voice, and Ashe’ Cultural Arts Center  will present a staged reading of  Christina Ham’s FOUR LITTLE GIRS: Birmingham 1963. The reading on September 15^th at Dillard, in the Samuel DuBois Cook Theater, will take place simultaneously in theaters nationwide.

Prior to the Dillard reading, the show will be performed at the Ashe’ Cultural Arts Center on September 13 and 14 at 1712 Oretha Castle Haley Blvd., N.O.  All performances begin at 7:00 p.m.

FOUR LITTLE GIRLS: Birmingham 1963 was written by internationally known playwright Christina Ham and directed by Ed Bishop, award-winning producer/director. The readings commemorate the 50^th anniversary of the bombings that took the lives of four young girls at the Sixteenth Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama.  The readings capture the turbulence of the civil rights movement and the climate of racial tension and discrimination of the time. Four little girls – Addie Mae Collins, Denise McNair, Carole Robertson, and Cynthia Wesley – share their future aspirations about “what they want to be when they grow up,” in the volatile  environment of the Civil Rights Movement.
