On Saturday, January 30, Dillard University will host a New Orleans Mayoral Debate. The debate, which begins at 10 a.m. in Lawless Memorial Chapel on the Dillard campus, will focus on neighborhood revitalization, blight, crime, and quality-of-life issues important to the Gentilly community.

The debate will be preceded by a Youth Town Hall Meeting from 7-9 a.m. on the elections and issues critical to the New Orleans youth community. Radio host Wild Wayne of Q93 will preside over the meeting, which will be broadcast live on Q93.

The debate is sponsored by Dillard's Community Development Corporation, political science faculty, and Student Government Association, in addition to the 20 neighborhood organizations of the Gentilly Civic Improvement Association.

This marks the second of three mayoral debates hosted by Dillard University this election season, giving candidates and various New Orleans communities an opportunity to discuss a wide variety of issues important to social, political and economic dialogue.

The third debate will take place March 2 at Dillard University (location to be announced) and will give the community an opportunity to ask questions of the primary winners.

The first debate was held on January 12 and focused on issues of import to the African-American community.
