The accounting department provides quality accounting education to students and helps prepare them to become certified and licensed professionals for careers in public, corporate, and not-for-profit accounting organizations as well as in careers that demand high level of accounting professionals.

Mission of Department
The mission of the accounting department is to nurture, mentor and prepare students, who will be:

  • competent in the accounting discipline and contribute significantly in leadership roles
  • responsive to the opportunities and demands of a highly competitive global environment
  • educated in the accounting field so as to advance the frontier of accounting knowledge
  • skilled in the use of information technology
  • grounded in undergraduate research, critical thinking and ethical leadership

Objectives of Department

  1. To prepare students for employment and/or graduate/advanced study.
  2. To prepare students to successfully complete relevant professional examinations
  3. To prepare students to demonstrate competence in ethical decision-making and leadership development
  4. To prepare students to demonstrate competencies in analytical decision-making and research.
  5. To prepare students to demonstrate competence in the use of information technology
  6. To prepare students to demonstrate competencies in oral and written communication, including business presentations.
  7. To provide students with knowledge and skills required to function effectively in a global society, including demonstrated literacy in a world language or culture.
