Dr. Danielle Perkins Manning is the manager of the Center for Excellence in Nursing Education for Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing (Sigma). In this role, she oversees the administration and ongoing review of nurse faculty leadership enrichment institutes and academies and leads the development of professional role education for international nursing faculty.

Perkins Manning received her BSN from Dillard University in New Orleans, La., in 2002; her MSN from Southern University and A & M College in Baton Rouge, La., in 2005; and her Ph.D. in nursing from University of Missouri�"Kansas City in Kansas City, Mo., in 2013.  She was the first African American to graduate from University of Missouri�"Kansas City’s doctoral program, which was established in 1997. Her practice background is in medical-surgical, cardiovascular, and mental health nursing. For over half of her career, she has taught undergraduate baccalaureate nursing students in clinical, classroom, and online settings in the areas of nursing research, medical-surgical nursing, and community health nursing. Her doctoral area of research involved investigation of depression in formerly incarcerated young black men, and she continues to closely follow issues related to social justice and social determinants of mental health.

Perkins Manning served as director for the Cultural Competency Training Grant, funded by the Division of Mental Health and Addictions, from 2015 to 2016. Her work under this grant supported cultural competence training for mental health and addictions providers across the state of Indiana via webinars, newsletters, and conference attendance.
