Dillard University is proud to have a long tradition of educational lecture series, which have brought such distinguished speakers as Martin Luther King, Jr., Eleanor Roosevelt, Thurgood Marshall, Jackie Robinson, and Mary McLeod Bethune. Building on that tradition, Brain Food is a lecture series started in 2013 by President Walter M. Kimbrough to feed the hungry minds at Dillard University with intellectual sustenance.
The University Convocation is a program that provides first-year students with weekly opportunities to listen to Dillard students, faculty, and staff, as well as other professionals, speak about a range of topics. We also host an annual Honors Convocation in the spring featuring a notable speaker and a presentation of honorees for students on the Dean’s List and Honor Roll, students in the Honors Program and our Honor Societies, students who have been awarded academic scholarships, and the winners of our Undergraduate Research & Creative Work Competition.
With parties, community service projects, games, parades, tailgates, and more, our homecoming events are a way for current students and alumni alike to celebrate their time at Dillard.
The Dillard University SOAR (New Student Orientation) program provides new students of every kind with programs, workshops, and activities designed to help you make new friends, become familiar with our campus, and discover resources to help you throughout college. This mandatory program serves freshmen, transfer, readmit, resident, commuter, and non-traditional students.
