In order to meet your needs, please complete a PROJECT REQUEST FORM. Submit your request at least three weeks in advance of your project or event.

We give the highest priority to assignments that are outward facing and promote Dillard as a whole.

In some cases, we outsource the requested services to fulfill an area's needs. In those cases, we will provide a quote for the requested services. The requesting area is responsible for the costs incurred.

Photography and videography showcase both the beauty of the campus and Dillard’s most valuable resource--its people. Students, faculty and staff who appear in our photos and videos help communicate the value and brand of “The Jewel of Gentilly.” We take pride in producing images that illustrate our connection, purpose, pride, critical thought, legacy, spirit and creativity.

As with everything else, COVID-19 has changed the way the University executes photography and video assignments. These guidelines are designed to ensure the health and safety of the Dillard community while finding ways to continue showing the beauty of Dillard life.

Photography and videography assignments will only be carried out in situations which allow for at least 6 feet of distance between the photographer/videographer (specialist) and the subject(s).

The specialist will wear a mask and all subjects should wear masks properly (over their noses and mouths), as well. Subjects will be able to remove their masks if the shoot calls for it.

Staged group photo and video assignments will only be carried out if subjects are able to space at least 6 feet apart. In most cases, that may mean no more than three subjects depending on the amount of space available at the discretion of the specialist. Groups should plan for individual photographs/videos.

While we are accustomed to group pictures, subjects will not be photoshopped to appear closer together. The reason is to model safe and healthy behaviors while the COVID-19 pandemic is still a danger to communities.

Studio photography, such as headshots and publicity shots, are by appointment only. No more than two subjects at a time will be permitted in the studio space. To schedule an appointment, contact Sabree Hill at or 504-816-4564.

Photography and video capture Dillard life for promotional use such as for brochures, the website and social media.

Students, by virtue of their attendance, and faculty and staff, by virtue of their employment with Dillard University, can be subjects in the University’s photos and videos in group gatherings such as formal University events, social events, lectures, athletic events as well as gatherings in atriums, lobbies, dining halls and other common areas. Therefore, there is no practical expectation of privacy in these areas as privacy is limited in public spaces.

Specialists work in areas such as classrooms, healthcare facilities, laboratories and residence halls only if access is granted by the University personnel responsible for those areas. There is no photography or videography in areas where privacy is expected such as restrooms and dressing rooms. Residence hall photography/video is by permission of the responsible University personnel and the student(s).

In cases where specific students, faculty and/or are asked to appear in photos or videos, their presence will be requested by the Office of Communications and Marketing. In cases where the University uses photos and videos for advertising, release forms must be signed by the subjects.

Our specialists respect students’, faculty and staff’s requests to not be photographed or videotaped if that is their wish.
