SUMMARY:A Pathway to Geoscience Education Using Drones
DESCRIPTION:A Pathway to Geoscience Education Using Drones \nThe goals of A Pathway to Geoscience Education Using Drones summer program are to build student’s interest and capacity to engage in a geoscience-focused STEM career pathway and to introduce drones and their relevance to understanding earth and geosciences. The program aims to motivate\, and increase the number of underrepresented minority students to major in earth science/geoscience and to empower students from diverse backgrounds with knowledge and skills to make geoscience decisions. \nThe objectives of A Pathway to Geoscience Education Using Drones summer program are to engage students with knowledge and understanding of the components of the earth system and to engage young people with their local natural landscapes and with their community. The program target is to train students in the use of drones and the application of technology to geosciences to focus early-stage undergraduates on solving local geoscience issues related to water quality\, pollution\, soil erosion\, natural resource management\, and hazard mitigation.  The program focused is to train students to employ evidence-based scientific reasoning\, to critically think about problems in earth science\, and to provide students with broad exposure to earth science/geoscience and environmental problems as well as training essential problem-solving skills.
