The program is designed to increase student success by creating an environment for students that implements a holistic approach to learning. DSL I program is a residential summer bridge program designed to improve student achievement by identifying and implementing instructional strategies\, which improve postsecondary learning and retention\, resulting in completion of a degree in STEM field. DSL I Program will utilize strategies based on best practices in creating a learner-centered environment and assisting students in STEM programs. \nDSL I students will engage in summer enrichment activities and a series of enrichment activities during the academic year. There will be a five-week summer DU-DSL I STEM Program for PRE-STEM students. DSL I’s goal is to boost students’ skills and confidence in biology\, mathematics\, chemistry\, computer science\, and physics courses. DSL I Program will be introducing courses that are experimental designs through authentic research in course-associated laboratories.

DESCRIPTION:Final Exams: Monday\, November 17 through Saturday\, November 22.\n\nDOWNLOAD FINAL EXAM SCHEDULE >> \nAs you prepare for the exam period\, students\, faculty\, and staff are reminded that there should be no planned extracurricular programs or activities during or after the exam period (beginning November 15\, 2025) \n  \n\nScheduling of Events\, Meetings\, and Programs\nAcademic or Registered student organizations are not to schedule any in-person or virtual —events\, concerts\, organizational leadership meetings\, or any activity that might conflict with academic studies or finals. This time frame begins at 6:00 pm on the night before the start of the exam period (November 15\, 2025). Events scheduled by parties external to the university that require attendance (even virtual) by Dillard students are not exempt from this policy; university staff should take an active role in ensuring that students are rarely obligated in this way.\nScheduling of Other Competitions\nNo off-campus competitions involving student academic or student organizations or club sport athletic teams should be scheduled during or after Finals Week.\nScheduling of Field Trips\nFaculty members should not schedule field trips during or after FinalsWeek unless the trip is the finalexam for the class and fits within the time allowed in the final exam schedule. Exceptions to this policy may be granted by the dean of the college or school in cases when there are exceptional circumstances not under the control of the faculty member and where such exceptions would be in the best interest of the students. Requests for exceptions and logistics should be made well in advance of Finals Week.\n\nThere are only a few exceptions to these rules: study exam breaks\, student support services programs for academic support and study sessions ARE permitted\, but should not be considered mandatory unless attendance is required for a grade. These programs have been approved in advance of this week’s finals.  \nPlease contact the Student Affairs or Academic Affairs if you have any questions.
