Dillard University’s 2023 Homecoming Parade: A Spectacular Display of School Spirit and Communiversity

The bustling streets came alive as the crowd gathered to witness the lively procession, featuring colorful floats, marching bands, dance troupes, and exuberant student and alumni organizations. Providing a seamless fusion of campus life and the local community, the route began at the intersection of Gentilly Boulevard and St. Anthony Avenue, proceeded to Elysian Fields Avenue, then onto Filmore Avenue and St. Anthony Avenue, before heading towards Norman Mayer Avenue. The parade concluded its journey back at Gentilly Boulevard, where it disbanded on Dillard’s campus.”

St. Augustine’s Marching 100 Band led the parade, followed by this year’s grand marshal, Senator Jimmy Harris (D-LA).

As the parade progressed, the effervescent energy extended beyond the floats and bands, enveloping the spectators lined along the route. Families, alumni, and local community members eagerly joined the festivities, showcasing their unwavering support and enthusiasm for Dillard University.

Dillard University’s Homecoming Parade was truly a testament to the unyielding spirit and unity that defines this tight-knit community. The event would not have been possible without the collective efforts of the dedicated staff, volunteers, and organizers who worked tirelessly to ensure its success.
