$6,000 award supports student sustainability engagement and reduction of single-use plastics Dillard University has been awarded a $6,000 Keep Louisiana Beautiful (KLB) University Affiliate Grant to advance campus sustainability initiatives. The funding will support student engagement activities focused on litter prevention, waste reduction, and reusable alternatives, including the purchase and distribution of reusable cups to decrease single-use plastics.
The grant complements ongoing Facilities efforts to expand hydration/bottle-filling stations across campus, encouraging refill culture and supporting Dillard’s environmental goals. Planned activities include student-led outreach, waste-reduction education, and data tracking on participation and impact.
“ This grant helps us turn sustainable habits into everyday practice for our students,” said Simeon Benjamin, Project Manager. “It aligns with Dillard’s mission to cultivate ethical, courageous leaders who improve their communities.”
