Dr. Mona Lisa Saloy Featured on CBS Sunday Morning Showcasing the Spirit of New Orleans and Dillard University

We are proud to share that Dillard University’s own Dr. Mona Lisa Saloy, Louisiana Poet Laureate and Conrad N. Hilton Endowed Professor of English, was recently featured on CBS Sunday Morning in a segment titled “Welcome to New Orleans.”

This powerful piece, narrated by correspondent Lee Cowan, explored the rich cultural history and enduring resilience of our beloved city. Dr. Saloy’s voice and presence added depth and authenticity to the story, representing the spirit, creativity, and brilliance of New Orleans—and of Dillard University.

CBS Sunday Morning is renowned for its thoughtful storytelling around the arts, culture, and human achievement. We are honored that Dr. Saloy continues to serve as a national ambassador not only for poetry and the humanities but for the beauty and complexity of New Orleans itself.

We invite you to view the segment and celebrate this well-deserved recognition of one of our most distinguished faculty members.
