Join us at Dillard University for a powerful Music & Food Talk + Cooking Demo with legendary New Orleans culture bearer Bruce Sunpie Barnes — a living archive of Afro-Louisiana sound, story, and spirit.
A multi-instrumentalist, global performer, former NFL player, park ranger, photographer, author, and Big Chief of the Northside Skull and Bone Gang, Sunpie’s life journey weaves together blues, zydeco, gospel, Caribbean, and African rhythms — all rooted in New Orleans. From world tours with Paul Simon to film and television appearances, his work carries culture across generations and continents.
This intimate gathering brings music, foodways, and storytelling together — exploring how rhythm, memory, and nourishment shape the culture of Louisiana.
