Dillard University and St. George’s University (SGU) have expanded their admissions partnership, creating new pathways for qualified Dillard students to gain early assurance and expedited entry into SGU’s School of Medicine, School of Veterinary Medicine, and Master of Public Health program. The partnership includes a “4+4” pathway for MD and DVM programs, as well as a Public Health pathway with specialized tracks.

“Dillard University, the oldest Historically Black College and University (HBCU) in Louisiana, is committed to academic excellence and diversity,” said Dr. Monique Guillory, President of Dillard University. “This partnership with St. George’s University reflects our shared mission to support students from diverse backgrounds in achieving their academic and professional aspirations in public health, medicine, and veterinary medicine.”

Under this enhanced agreement, Dillard students earning a Bachelor of Science in Public Health, Health Science, or Nursing—and meeting SGU’s admission standards—will gain entry to SGU’s Master of Public Health program. The program offers five specialized tracks, equipping graduates with the skills needed to tackle global public health challenges.

“St. George’s University is thrilled to strengthen our collaboration with Dillard University,” said Dr. Marios Loukas, Dean of SGU’s School of Medicine. “This partnership broadens access to our MPH, MD, and DVM programs, preparing students to excel as future doctors, veterinarians, and public health leaders.”

The partnership’s 4+4 pathway offers admission to SGU’s four-year MD and DVM programs for Dillard students who complete the pre-medical or pre-veterinary curriculum, maintain competitive GPAs, and meet entrance exam requirements (e.g., the MCAT for medical school).

MD students will spend two years studying basic sciences on SGU’s campus in Grenada, followed by clinical rotations at SGU-affiliated hospitals and health systems in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. Veterinary students will complete three years of study in Grenada, with a fourth year of clinical training at one of SGU’s 30+ affiliated institutions worldwide.

Students accepted into these pathways will receive a $10,000 scholarship for the SGU School of Medicine. Additional scholarships and grants are also available, with SGU awarding over $71 million in scholarships during the 2023-2024 academic year.
