We translate science into practice, applying research data to real world situations to improve population health.
At the Dillard School of Population and Health Sciences, we conduct research to help prevent disease, promote health, and improve the well-being of communities. We translate our research findings into evidence-based public health practice. Our academic and research units’ work to offer fellowships, internships, and other practice-based learning.
Dedicated to improving the health of underserved populations in New Orleans and surrounding regions, the Dillard University minority health and health equity research center researches health and healthcare inequalities among races and people. In addition to conducting research, the center informs the public and holds events that address health disparities in communities.
The Dillard School of Population and Health Science is home to several local and national research projects and programs. From complementary and alternative medicine (CAM), environmental and social justice research, epidemiological responses to disease, to faculty focused on health equity, health promotion, health policy and more, we are at the forefront of public health research that saves lives and promotes health throughout the southeast region and the world.
Our public health practice engages our students and community in life-long relationships and learning. This includes field-based learning, workforce development, and continuing education–all in partnership with leaders in the communities we serve.
