NEW ORLEANS – Dillard University names Victoria A. Alexis, an experienced strategic communicator, as the new director of communications and marketing.

As communications and marketing director, Alexis will report directly to President Rochelle L. Ford, Ph.D., APR., and lead the University’s marketing, communications, and branding efforts.

“It’s an honor to share stories that illuminate Dillard University’s mission and motto,” said Alexis. “Each generation has selflessly given the world its brilliance of thought, and compassion of heart with grace and style. I look forward to joining this historic legacy.”

Prior to joining the communications and marketing team, Alexis worked at the Louisiana Department of Health, where she served as the lead for the Bureau of Family Health’s communications operations and strategy team.

Alexis began her public health career at Access Health Louisiana. There, she owned the implementation of all state-wide community engagement and digital marketing strategies that promoted primary and behavioral health services to under-resourced and underrepresented communities.

Before public health, Alexis coordinated sales and content marketing for historic New Orleans hotel brands and Entercom Radio New Orleans’ legacy brands, WWL-AMFM (WWL News, Talk, & Sports), WEZB-FM (B97), and WLMG-FM (Magic 101.9).

“I am excited to announce that Ms. Alexis will serve as the University’s director of communications and marketing,” said Ford. “I am confident in Victoria’s background and believe she will be a valuable asset in promoting the University’s story of developing future leaders in healthy, safe, and innovative communities.”

A Marrero native, Alexis holds a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations from Tulane University. She is active in the community through faith-based and non-profit organizations in the greater New Orleans area. Her interests include spending time with her family and acquiring southern art created by and for persons of color (POC) and women.

As director of communications and marketing, Alexis will serve as the main contact for all of Dillard University’s media inquiries.
