New Orleans – Dillard University has been selected as one of the schools to receive $100k from the BeyGOOD Foundation to create scholarships specifically focused on Public Health.

The BeyGOOD Foundation, founded by global icon Beyonce Knowles-Carter, is a 501 (c)(3) public charity that continues the mission of economic equity and education.

When Mrs. Carter announced her RENAISSANCE World Tour, she committed $1M to Small Business grants throughout the tour. She also committed an additional $1M to educational scholarships, with ten schools receiving $100K each, with ten students at each school to receive $10K and become a part of the Renaissance Scholars cohort.

BeyGOOD Foundation executive director Ivy McGregor announced Dillard’s selection during the last Black Parade Route luncheon in New Orleans on Tuesday, September 26, 2023. She stated, “With all that is happening in our world – we need to also focus on equity as it relates to our health and wellbeing.”

This opportunity propels the university’s vision to advance healthy, safe, and innovative communities and its mission to cultivate leaders who live ethically, think and communicate precisely, and act courageously to make the world a better place.

“We are extremely grateful to the BeyGOOD Foundation for this generous gift. In a country ravaged by health inequities, primarily impacting our BIPOC [Black, Indigenous, and People of Color] communities, supporting the education of BIPOC students is an essential part of addressing these inequities. These scholarships will be integral to building a diverse public health workforce and advancing the Dillard communiversity.”, mentioned Rachael N. Reed, Dr.P.H., M.P.H., Chair, School of Population & Health Sciences and Coordinator/Assistant Professor of Public Health.
