Dillard Wins 3rd Place in HBCU C2 App Design Showcase

Dillard University has achieved an impressive 3rd place in the HBCU C2 App Design Showcase. This outstanding achievement is a testament to the dedication and talent of our students. The team completed against 29 HBCUs from around the nation.

The winning app, EvacuAid, serves as an emergency evacuation application set to make a real difference in times of crisis. This recognition not only showcases our students’ ingenuity and creativity but also highlights their work’s significant impact on communities.

As a result of this achievement, Dillard University will receive valuable equipment and software to support innovation and growth within our academic community. This support will undoubtedly enhance the learning experience and open new opportunities for our students to excel in their fields.

Looking ahead, our talented team of sophomores – Morgan Finley (Film), Dustin Nguyen (Computer Science), Gary Long III (Computer Science), Caleb Jeanmarie (Business Administration), and Kendall Washington (Business Administration) – are gearing up for the upcoming Fall semester BE Smart Hackathon, presented by Black Enterprise and American Airlines. We fully believe in their abilities to continue representing Dillard University with excellence and innovation.

The HBCU C2 initiative for Coding & Creativity is a nationwide educational program that empowers Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) to introduce coding and creativity initiatives to their campus and local community. By promoting innovation and educational equity and leveraging app design with Apple’s Swift programming language, HBCU C2 aims to tackle community challenges while fostering a culture of progress and opportunity.
