Former Dillard University Chaplain Rev. Bowman Passes Away

The Dillard University community extends heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Rev. Gail E. Bowman, J.D., former University Chaplain and Associate Professor of Religion, who passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2024. Rev. Bowman dedicated herself to Dillard from 1998 to 2012, leaving an enduring legacy of service and spiritual guidance.

During her tenure at Dillard University, Rev. Bowman profoundly impacted our campus community and beyond. Serving as a beacon of grace, wisdom, and spiritual insight, her dedication as University Chaplain touched countless lives among students, faculty, and staff, leaving an enduring mark on our institution. Notably, she advocated for and oversaw the renovation of Lawless Memorial Chapel following Hurricane Katrina and established the cherished tradition of the parting ceremony during SOAR week.
