The event was a grand reunion for alumni, who return to reminisce, reconnect, and create new memories with old friends and classmates. For current students, it serves as an opportunity to bond with their peers and alumni mentors, forging connections that will last a lifetime.
Rows of tents adorned with school and organization colors, lively music filled the air, and the delicious aromas of grilled favorites wafted through the crowd. The tailgate experience fostered at Dillard University is a testament to the rich culture and traditions that make our community unique. From step aerobics with Pwrme Athletica to shopping with local vendors, there was something for everyone to enjoy.
We even had multiple alumni DJ’s to take the stage providing the soundtrack for the day. Hosted by Roger Dickerson II. ‘98 (Raj Smoove), the DJs were Spin Griffey, Mike Powell ‘08 (DJ Mike Swift), Kristi Coleman ’13 (DJ Suga Cookie), JaDarius Taylor ‘21 (DJ Retro), and Jasmine Williams ‘22 (DJ ODD).
But the Homecoming Tailgate was not only about the festivities; it also served as an opportunity for our university to give back and strengthen ties with the surrounding community. Local vendors, organizations, and businesses were present, showcasing their products and services, further fostering our “Communiversity”
