L.E.A.D. Program

Through the support of Dillard’s Legal Education Advancing Diversity (L.E.A.D.) program, pre-law students receive the preparation they need to join the legal profession. The program is designed to help students gain admission to law school which is one of the most challenging steps in joining the legal profession, especially for students of color. The program is also open to students from Xavier University of Louisiana and Southern University at New Orleans.

The program consists of a 10-week LSAT Prep Book Camp, a year-long mentorship program with attorneys and judges in the community, law school application assistance and individual advising. These resources not only assist students with gaining admission to law schools but they also provide them with lasting support.

Juniors are encouraged to participate in the Foundation to L.E.A.D. program--a precursor to the L.E.A.D. program--which assists students with developing the logical and analytical reasoning skills needed to succeed the Law School Admission Test (LSAT).

FOUNDATION TO L.E.A.D.

Foundation to L.E.A.D. is a precursor to the L.E.A.D. program and provides rising juniors with early exposure to the fundamental skills needed for success on the LSAT and in law school: analytical reasoning and logical reasoning skills. The goal of Foundation to L.E.A.D. is to reach underrepresented students earlier in the pipeline and to provide them with the opportunity to strengthen these two important skills needed for success on the LSAT and in law school.

Foundation to L.E.A.D. targets rising college juniors at three HBCUs in New Orleans--Dillard, Southern University at New Orleans, and Xavier University at Louisiana--with a two-week summer residential program that will give them high-intensity exposure to these important skills.
