The Zulu Tramps led Mister and Miss Dillard University and the king and queen of the Zulu Social Aid and Pleasure Club, Inc., through the doors of Kearny Hall to deliver a sweet surprise during the University’s Senior Citizens Valentine’s Day and Mardi Gras Luncheon.

During Black History Month, Dillard University is highlighting an important exhibition that honors Black lives lost to HIV/AIDS from February 7-11. Dillard’s Minority Health & Health Equity Research Center and the Office of the Chaplain collaborated with the National AIDS Memorial and the Southern AIDS Coalition to bring Change the Pattern, an initiative funded by Gilead Sciences to shed light on the number of HIV/AIDS cases in the state and the disparity among African Americans.
Today, President Rochelle Ford, along with Stephanie Rogers, executive vice president of institutional advancement, welcomed Louisiana State Treasurer John Schroder and president of the Southern Strategy Group, Rodney Braxton, to Dillard’s campus for a meet and greet and campus tour.
The Dillard University Department of Athletics has announced its 2022-2023 Hall of Fame class. The ceremony to officially induct the class will take place 6 p.m., May 10, 2023 in Georges Auditorium in the Professional Schools and Sciences Building followed by a reception and the Billy Ray Hobley Scholarship Banquet in Lucien Pavilion. The Hall of Fame class and other honorees were selected based on their high character and their accomplishments as trailblazers.
Dillard University will provide a graduate from St. Augustine High School’s class of 2023 with a full tuition and fees scholarship thanks to a gift from Board of Trustees member Leith Hill. The selected scholar will receive support for four years, starting in the 2023-2024 academic year as long as he continues to meet the established criteria.
Today, Dr. Rochelle Ford, the eighth president of Dillard University, announced the plans to relaunch the Dillard University National Center for Black-Jewish Relations, initially founded by Dr. Samuel DuBois Cook, fourth president of Dillard University, from 1974-1997.
Dillard University will commemorate the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday with the King Legacy Celebration, which is a series of events that will take place Sunday, January 15 through Tuesday, January 17.
On Dec. 15, Harvard University appointed Dr. Claudine Gay as president, making her its first Black American, and second woman president, in its nearly 400-year history. She becomes the second Black woman to lead an Ivy League university; the first was Dillard University graduate Ruth Simmons, who will retire this academic year from Prairie View Agricultural and Mechanical University. Dr. Simmons served as the 18th president of Brown University from 2001 to 2012
