NEW ORLEANS — Today, President Rochelle Ford, along with Stephanie Rogers, executive vice president of institutional advancement, welcomed Louisiana State Treasurer John Schroder and president of the Southern Strategy Group, Rodney Braxton, to Dillard’s campus for a meet and greet and campus tour.

The group kicked-off the tour by strolling down the spacious green Oaks as Ford discussed the progress being made on campus, as well as the work that needs to be done.

Dillard’s campus is lively and energetic on Fridays and was a great sight for the group to enjoy along the tour. Members of Sigma Gamma Rho, Sorority, Inc. were chanting at the flagpole, the Dillard Diamonds dance team set-up a table to solicit donations for the team’s expenses and received a generous donation from Braxton, and the tennis team were hard at work on the court as they took on Loyola University New Orleans.

While on the tour, the group visited Kearny Dining Hall where they sat amongst students, faculty and staff and enjoyed some Southern fried catfish, a staple dish for many New Orleanians on a Friday.

Both Schroder and Braxton witnessed the importance of HBCUs and its ability to provide a safe space for community, self expression and growth for its students, and why it is imperative for the University to continue to receive resources to help cultivate leaders who can make positive contributions to the city, state and nation.
